chapter 8

James Butcher

Chapter eight of alice in wonderland is about alice playing a game of croquet like she has ever played before. The games calls for the sticks to be live flamingos and the balls to be live hedgehogs. The queen has a certain “knack” for getting her way. The hoops for the  ball to go through are live cards. So whenever the ball or hedgehog get close they move so it goes under them. The cards do the exact opposite for Alice's turn. They move out the way and make it the main priority to move out of the way or the queen will demand that his head get cut off. After Alice's turn, the queen gets ready to go when the Cheshire cat appears and has a conversation with alice. This gets the queen mad and whenever alice tries to show the cat he disappears. The Cheshire cat then proceeds to sabotage the game which makes the queen fall and blames it on alice.

I relate the game of croquet in chapter 8 to that of golf or croquet in 2016. I say this because in the story the game was portrayed as weird. In the real world, people think that golf and croquet are weird. Not everybody thinks the same thing, some people might actually like golf or croquet. This is also portrayed in the story because the queen was very fond of the game.

  1. I agree with your summary. It is well built. For your real world connections I can understand how the game of croquet relates 2016 with golf do you mind explaining to me how it relates to chapter 8? Your social media picture looks great. It shows how to chapter 8. Nice Job
